ACDI/VOCA Tanzania Jobs

Who We Are?
ACDI/VOCA is a global development organization working in over 60 countries around the world. In Tanzania, ACDI/VOCA is implementing the USAID-funded Feed the Future Tanzania Kilimo Tija Activity, which aims to transform the Tanzanian horticulture market system into a more vibrant, competitive, resilient, and inclusive one capable of fueling sustained growth and drawing in new market participants.

ACDI/VOCA believes that all people should have the opportunity to achieve better lives for themselves, their families, and their communities. With diverse partners, ACDI/VOCA empowers people to succeed in the global economy.

Background
Since 1963 and in 146 countries, ACDI/VOCA has empowered people in developing and transitional nations to succeed in the global economy. Based in Washington, D.C. ACDI/VOCA is a nonprofit international development organization that delivers technical and management assistance in agribusiness, financial services, enterprise development, community development, and food security to promote broad-based economic growth and a vibrant civil society.

Overview of The Project:
The Feed the Future Tanzania Kilimo Tija Project is an integral component of the U.S. Government’s (USG) Global Food Security Strategy (GFSS), designed to advance global food security, resilience, and nutrition. The objective of this horticulture initiative is to systematically enhance economic prospects within horticulture market systems, with a particular focus on the youth demographic.

This goal will be realized by: (a) fortifying horticulture market systems to amplify enterprise and employment opportunities; (b) broadening access to commercially provided climate-smart and productivity-enhancing agricultural technologies; and (c) enhancing the conducive environment for market systems. The Zone of Influence (ZOI) encompasses the regions of Morogoro, Iringa, Mbeya, Njombe, and Zanzibar. Additionally, key market sheds outside the ZOI, such as Dar es Salaam, Songwe, and Arusha, are included, given their significant transport and market facilities.

Target beneficiaries include direct recipients of USG assistance, indirect beneficiaries who emulate the directly assisted, and businesses leveraging opportunities fostered by USG investments. Interventions will emphasize inclusivity and expanded opportunities for youth involvement. Stakeholders may involve private sector entities (producers, input suppliers, service providers, processors, traders/resellers, buyers, and financial institutions), public sector actors (GOT national and local governments, including GOT extension workers), and civil society (including TAHA and other producer and buyer associations).
